Bengaluru, January 22, 2019: Paytm, the brand owned by One97 Communications, India’s largest digital payments company today announced that it has set a new milestone and has achieved a landmark of selling over 100 million flight, train and bus tickets by the end of 2018. Paytm had set up its travel business in Bangalore in 2016 with the launch of Flight and Train bookings on its app and website.

A vast majority of the travel ticket bookings on Paytm are driven through its mobile app. The company has been able to effectively address the needs of mobile-only travelers by introducing a host of new features to simplify ticketing for first-time users across tier II and III cities.

The company also witnessed that tier II and III have contributed to over 65% of its growth. This includes cities such as Vijayawada, Rajkot, Coimbatore, Nagpur and among others for all its travel offerings. Since its launch, Paytm’s Travel business has held a dominant position in the industry with its various customer-centric offerings like Zero processing fee on cancellation of flight tickets, Free Cancellation on Flights and Bus bookings, Zero payment gateway and service charges for Train bookings, along with instant refunds and 24x7 customer support.

Paytm witnessed 3x growth in its Travel business with more than 38 million tickets sold in FY 2018. Further, it also has acquired a strong customer base of close to 13 Mn as of January 2019. With its industry-leading solutions & services, the company further aims at a 2X growth in travel ticketing volume in FY20.
Paytm’s Travel business is based out of Bengaluru with a team strength of 300. The platform provides consumer-focused features like free cancellation on bus and flight tickets that has helped travelers save crores of rupees in cancellation fees. The company had earlier announced that it has become the country’s largest online train ticket booking destination after IRCTC & offers train ticket bookings with zero payment gateway and service charges.
